The smartphone is at the heart of digital transformation

New technologies must be ready to meet the connectivity requirements of 7 billion people

The ability to analyse data in the sea of information in which we live and the speed in making the right decisions starting from data processing is a key strategy for the competitive success of a company. Even more so because in the digital age, thanks to the latest generation devices, users are always connected and active on social networks with free access to data and information at any time and in any place. So, today more than ever areas such as big data, artificial intelligence, machine learning, mobile and social media as well as their integration play a strategic role in the market.

An increasingly convergent integration will grow further in the future towards a single device, the smartphone. If it is true – as indeed it is – that half of the world population already uses it to surf the Internetand almost 3 billion people use social media on their phone, in the next 5 years there will be 7.9 billion smartphones compared to the current 4.3.

This is why any company that wants to continue its business cannot but take it into account. This is why, keeping an eye on present and future scenarios, these issues were the main focus of the “Digital Convergence Day”, the first major European event dedicated to the convergence between Social, IA and Mobile. It was organized by The Digital Box, a leading company in the digital and mobile marketing, and held in the Lecture Hall of the Bocconi University in Milan on 20th June.
